The subnet details you received should make clear your subnet mask, gateway, and usable IPs.

You will need to make sure that your machine is configured within the range of usable IPs, and you will need to add a static route to the subnet via the gateway.

An example of correct address configuration on your machine, given 10.197.6.X/27 is as follows:

IP: 10.197.6.Z where Z = X + 2

Subnet mask: 255.255.255.224
Gateway: 10.197.6.Y where Y = X + 1
